Interregional Folklore Festival "Belomorye"

The interregional folklore festival "Belomorye" is a big celebration of northern folklore, in which guests are greeted in national Pomeranian costumes, treated to fish and kvass, and shopping malls are spread out on the square, where folk masters from different cities of Russia present their works. The festival has been held since 1981, it is one of the largest and most significant cultural events in the Murmansk region, where folklore groups and folk masters come together.

Kandalaksha is a hospitable gateway to the Arctic, and the Tersky district is the cradle of Pomor culture. For two days on the shore of the White Sea, folk songs in various languages will be played at the village sites. An integral part of the festival is the "City of Masters", where masters of wood carving, weaving of products from vines, birch bark, patchwork, embroidery, making folk toys and traditional Pomeranian goat will demonstrate their skills.

In 2022, the festival will be held for the first time at as many as five venues, where song and dance folklore groups, folklore theaters and folk masters of decorative and applied arts will share their creativity:

- a platform for traditional games and rituals;

- the site of the ethnographic theater and fashion;

- platform "Traditional cuisine";

- excursion platform "Pomorsky dom";

- the platform "The Chamber of Knowledge".

Festival program:

On June 17 in the city of Kandalaksha – master classes for creative teams from leading experts of traditional folk culture, a concert.

June 18 in the village of Umba is the main event of the festival.

June 19 in the village of Umba – herring festival.

Each viewer will be given the opportunity to touch folk art, and craftsmen and craftsmen will share the secrets of their applied creativity. The holiday draws attention to folk rituals, customs, games, decorative and applied art products, which reflect the spiritual beauty and strength of the people.
