XIV International Film Festival "Northern Character"

From November 14 to 22, Murmansk will host the International Film Festival "Northern Character" - a key film event of the European North of Russia and the Arctic countries. The festival has been held in Murmansk since 2008, it began as a private initiative of journalists. For 13 years it has become a recognized film forum.

The main goal of the festival is to present the Murmansk Region as a possible filming site for Russian and foreign companies.

Journalists offer their works in the nomination "Television program", and cinematographers compete in the competition programs "Documentary up to 90 minutes", "Documentary up to 60 minutes", "Short feature film".

The authors of the films of the festival focus on a person who lives in the North, appreciates its harsh beauty, creates and creates, as well as inspires others to overcome difficulties. A good film stirs the emotions of the audience, gives birth to new ideas and images. Therefore, another goal of the festival is to complicate the cultural layer of the Murmansk region, to support active Murmansk residents and residents of the region who create cinema and cultural projects, ready to work for the Russian and foreign film industry.

The main festival events are available to a wide range of viewers of Zapolyarny and Murmansk, where residents and film authors can easily communicate with each other. It is no coincidence that the key event of the festival is the Media Forum, where the main speakers are journalists from different countries, and citizens take part in the discussion.
