Kayaking on Lake Kilpyavr

Kayaking on the lake. Kilpyavr (or Kilp-yavr, which means "a lake similar to a deer horn" in Sami)

An ideal chance to try such a wonderful sport as kayaking for the first time, get a lot of vivid impressions and reboot from city everyday life.

Due to the tortuosity of the relief and the presence of many bays, there are no high waves here, which will allow you to enjoy the process and the surrounding nature without serious physical exertion.

The total time of the tour is approximately 8 hours:

• 10.00 – departure
• 11.00-12.00 – time for equipment preparation, briefing.
• 12.00-16.00 - main part (includes time to stop for tea, sandwiches, swimming in good weather)
• 16.00-17.00 – collection, loading of equipment.
• 17.00 – the way back.

Lake Kilpyavr is 30 km away. northwest of Murmansk. The now abandoned airfield of the same name is located on the shore of the lake. For us, this lake is remarkable for the diversity and beauty of nature. Walking along the lake, we will be able to observe steep sandy shores with towering pine trees and, more familiar to us, rocky with dwarf birches. On the shore of the lake there was an abandoned military security post, now favored by local fishermen.

For rest and tea, we will land in a deserted sandy bay, where everyone can swim. The lake is quite shallow, so in good weather the water warms up to quite comfortable temperatures. The walk is carried out on single and double kayaks.
