The forest ends, and ahead on the high right bank is visible a wooden church, a monument of Russian northern architecture of the XVI century. Varzuga is located on the left and right banks - one of the oldest Russian settlements on the Kola Peninsula. The final ridge of the Varzuga rapids, about 4 km long, lies below the village, starting almost immediately after the last houses. The sea rapids encountered on the way are four difficult sections (Dog, Cage, Koitugov, Sea) and an easy threshold Frying Pan - the last obstacle on the Varzuge. The dog is a stormy threshold consisting of several steep drops, the ship's course on it is difficult. Beyond the last threshold, the Varzuga flows almost along a 2-kilometer channel between low banks. There are many islands in the mouth. The last kilometers of the river flows in sand dunes. This is a completely peculiar landscape. Yellow dunes in dull ridges go to the horizon. Lunch, gathering of equipment. Transfer to Murmansk.
