About the tour

The Lovozero Tundra is a mountain range located in the center of the Kola Peninsula. The tundra is characterized by a complete absence of trees. The main vegetation of the local tundra is various types of mosses and rare northern flowers.

There are many legends associated with the Lovozero Tundras among the Sami-the ancient inhabitants of the Kola Peninsula. The Sami made sacrifices here to appease the Sami spirits and get a good harvest and catch.

At the foot of the mountains there is an abandoned ore mining plant, where a large concentration of minerals was found in one of the mines — more than 80 different minerals on 20 square meters (the so-called box)!

We will take a walk along the western slope of the mountains, enjoy beautiful views of Lake Umbozero and the Khibiny Mountains. In the second half of summer, you can eat plenty of northern berries — blueberries, blueberries and lingonberries.

Tour Details

Escort: the guide picks you up from the hotel and takes you back after the tour;

Transport: passenger car for up to 3 people; minibus for 4 or more people;

Start of the tour: at 10 o'clock;

Duration of the tour: 8-10 hours, including about 1.5 hours on the way from Murmansk to the starting point of the tour;

Season: late May — mid-September;

Note: the trip requires minimal physical training, as we will travel through rough terrain in the foothills of the Lovozero Tundra, as well as make a trip to one of the small peaks. Outdoor clothing: comfortable hiking shoes, waterproof windbreaker.
