Excursion
Mishukova Hill - to the best views of Murmansk
Add to the journey
By public transport, as locals, you will go to one of the highest hills in the vicinity of Murmansk. During light trekking, you will explore the features of the tundra and forest tundra, learn how the ancient Sami used plants. And from the top you will discover a fabulous view of the bay, the city, endless distances with chains of lakes and even see the Barents Sea.
Murmansk — Mishukovo: an unexpected journey
We will meet at the Station Square in Murmansk, buy tickets for a commuter bus and hit the road. As a rule, the transport is half-empty, so nothing will prevent us from comfortably accommodating and communicating on the way. Let's get to know each other better, exchange travel stories and, of course, I will be happy to tell you about our harsh but beautiful region — the fantastic Arctic.
Easy trekking and picnic at the top
Arriving at the place, we will begin a simple 2-hour ascent to Mishukova Hill (348 m). You will visit two natural zones: pass through the forest tundra, small swamps and climb into the tundra, completely overgrown with mosses and lichens. Appreciate the expanses of the Murmansk surroundings with lakes and a ridge of hills, see the bay with ships and be able to take landscape pictures. And at the top you will rest, drink tea from local herbs, have a snack and go on the way back.
Stories of the North
Along the way, you will hear a lot of interesting facts about the nature and ethnic history of the region, which I have been collecting for ten years. I will tell you about all the plants on the route, how the indigenous population - the Sami - used them, what of this knowledge can be applied now and much more!
