The Kola Peninsula is a land of harsh and cold coastal cliffs, vast tundra and the northernmost untouched forests in Europe. Landscape and climatic features of the region, cultural and historical potential attract fans of various types of tourism to the Kola Peninsula-from rafting on rough rivers and fishing to ski, mineralogical, event, ecological and ethnographic tourism.

Holiday of the North

Ethnographic tourism in the Murmansk Region is unique and original, where the centuries — old traditions of the indigenous inhabitants of the Kola Region — the Sami and the first Russian settlers-the Pomors-occupy a special place. One of the most significant events of the Kola Arctic region is the traditional Holiday of the North. These are major international winter sports competitions.

The most spectacular event of the Polar Olympics is the Murmansk Ski Marathon, which is one of the five best marathons in Russia "Russialoppet". Another international event — the traditional mass ski run of the Barents Sea countries-also attracts a lot of attention. / The Euro-Arctic region "Friendship Ski Trail", the route of which runs along the borders of Russia, Norway and Finland. Every year, more than 3,000 fans of skiing and healthy lifestyle take part in it.

From a tourist point of view, the multi-faceted sphere of culture of the Murmansk region is attractive, one of the attractions is the Philharmonic Hall with the main decoration — a full-sounding organ, unique for the Arctic region. For many years, the creative teams of the Kola Arctic region have been implementing international cultural projects within the unique Barents Sea/Euro-Arctic cooperation.

In 2023, the Murmansk Region will celebrate the 35th anniversary of cultural cooperation with the Norwegian province of Finnmark.  According to a good tradition, the Finnmark Culture Days are held annually in the Murmansk Region and Days of Culture of the Murmansk region in Finnmark.

The residents of Murmansk love their region, which reflects the diversity of the original culture and the centuries-old history of the Kola Peninsula, the unique northern nature and the dynamism of the modern developing region. And guests are always welcome here!

Cruises in the Arctic

Cruise Arctic tourism has received a significant boost in recent years, including in connection with the possibility of visa-free stay in Russia for travelers. The port of Murmansk is included in the corresponding list of ports through which entry into the Russian Federation is allowed. The Russian Federation of foreign citizens arriving for tourist purposes on ferries, and their stay in the territory of the Russian Federation for 72 hours without a visa.
