River rafting

River rafting on catamarans, rafts and canoes is one of the most popular types of outdoor activities on the Kola Peninsula. In a region where several thousand rivers flow, among which there are many stormy ones, all conditions for water routes have been created.

Features of the alloy

The reservoirs of the Kola Peninsula are located in such a way that during rafting you do not have to travel long distances by land: in one trip you can visit several rivers of the Arctic at once.

The most popular rivers for rafting

  • Pecha
  • Umba
  • Varzuga
  • Kolvica

They are ideal in terms of length and possible route changes.

Long hikes with a combination of hiking and water extreme routes are possible on rivers

  • Pan
  • Rest
  • Iokanga

Alloys are suitable for family holidays

  • in the area of the Verkhnetulomsky reservoir – a leisurely journey in the south direction from the village of Verkhnetulomsky
  • along the rivers of the southeastern part of the Kola Peninsula on the Indel-Pan-Varzuga route

Safety rules

Stormy northern rivers are not only interesting, but also quite a dangerous adventure.

It is best to go on a rafting trip with an experienced instructor. But if you decide to raft on your own, follow the following rules:

  1. Think over the equipment - tents, kettles, overalls, tools, food with a stock, medicines may be needed on a water trip.
  2. When planning a route, collect information about the depth of reservoirs and possible parking spots.
  3. Take a GPS navigator with you, with direct communication with the satellite.
  4. Warn the local department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations that you are going on a rafting trip and about the approximate time and place of return.
