More than 25,000 guests visited the gastronomic festival "Taste of the Arctic"
From May 26 to May 28, Murmansk hosted the gastronomic festival "Taste of the Arctic"
Over three days, the festival guests tasted more than 13,000 portions of Arctic dishes and 7,000 servings of drinks from 17 restaurants and cafes in the Murmansk region, purchased more than 760 souvenirs and about 150 kg of fish and 600 canned fish.
"Among the absolute record holders in sales were hunks and pockets with Arctic additives, ear, pancakes and waffles, Yagelezh, zayeburikha, meringue roll with cloudberry, venison pilaf, northern burgers and lemonades," said Alexander Eliseev, Chairman of the Murmansk Region Tourism Committee.
During the free tasting, more than 3,000 portions of Arctic sbiten and lemonade were distributed to the guests of the gastronomic festival "Taste of the Arctic".
"Over the past 4 years, the Arctic cuisine has become a full-fledged tourist attraction of the Murmansk Region along with the Northern Lights. The best chefs and restaurateurs represent the region throughout Russia, many restaurants and cafes choose culinary direction as a specialization even outside the region, and almost every guest and local resident of the region knows the dishes of our chefs, without which no festival or event in the region takes place. Therefore, we celebrated the 85th anniversary of the Murmansk region with Arctic taste!" - said Ekaterina Shapovalova, author and head of the project "Gastronomic map of Russia"
In addition, the visiting office of the Tourist Information Center of the Murmansk region worked within the framework of the festival
Residents and guests of the city were able to learn about current tours and popular destinations in the region, as well as take part in a win-win lottery organized jointly with the tourist community of the region.
More than 5,000 gifts were raffled off for the guests of the festival. Among the gifts are a unique tourist souvenir "Polar Explorer's Passport", travel in the Murmansk region, nights in the best hotels in the region, gastronomic souvenirs and branded merch "In the North – to rest!", yagel chips, northern berry sauces and much more.
Everyone could also send commemorative postcards to any corner of Russia for free. In total, more than 10,000 postcards were sent throughout Russia.

The total screening time of the films was more than 24 hours in 3 days. The program includes screenings of documentaries and feature films shot in the region, view clips telling about the beauty of the nature of the Kola Peninsula, and a cartoon program for children. Films made by young Murmansk authors were presented personally by the creators of the tapes.
The organizer of the gastronomic festival "Taste of the Arctic" was the Tourism Committee of the Murmansk region with the participation of the Tourist Information Center of the Murmansk Region, the author and head of the project "Gastronomic Map of Russia" Ekaterina Shapovalova.
The operator of the event is the ANO for the development of congress, exhibition, fair and information activities "Murmancongress".
