The famous Turgenev oak is a Russian nominee for the competition "European Tree of the Year – 2022".

Turgenev oak - a tree with a history: his age is 198 years. The oak was planted by Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenev, until the autumn of last year the tree grew in the museum-reserve of the writer Spasskoye-Lutovinovo in the Oryol region.

Unfortunately, the tree was lost during a hurricane on November 30, 2021, but it remained in the memory of people as the personification of strength, endurance, beauty and longevity, one of the symbols of literary Russia.

Therefore, in February 2022, the organizers of the international competition "European Tree of the Year" decided to include the Turgenev oak in the list of nominees from Russia.

The Russian Organizing Committee calls for participation in the online voting, which runs until February 28.

The results will be announced at the award ceremony on March 22.

Detailed information can be found in the instructions.
