Central Square
Add to the journey
The central square is located on the square "Five corners" in the heart of the city of Murmansk. The square "Five Corners" is so named because five roads used to go to it. Only four have survived to our time.
The opening of the renovated square on Five Corners took place in 2015. A modern and beautiful recreation area has been created on an area of 17 thousand square meters, many interesting locations have appeared, for example, a monument to the symbol of the city - a cod, a bench similar to a plague, or a fountain with a large bowl and an anchor in the center. In summer, the fountain dances with luminous jets, and in winter it turns into an iridescent light installation.
In addition, there is a historical artifact in the square. During the work on landscaping, an ancient paving stone was discovered under a layer of earth, the age of which is equal to the year of the foundation of Murmansk. A small section of paving stones was preserved, hidden under heavy-duty glass.
