The Aurora Cinema was built in 1956 according to a Standard project by Zoya Brod, launched nationwide in 1949. This project was recognized as the best among all typical cinema projects.

Zoya Brod studied architectural craft at the architectural faculty of the Leningrad Higher Art and Technical Institute with outstanding architects of the times of Imperial St. Petersburg - Leonty Benois, Ivan Fomin and others. She was engaged in the design of residential buildings, the Matsestinsky viaduct in Sochi, but most of all she was interested in the creation of cinemas.

The project according to which Aurora was made was conceived in the style of Stalinist neoclassicism, but our cinema received a less pronounced colonnade, which retained only two columns at the entrance.

After listening to P. V. Fedorov's podcast "Architectural walks in Murmansk", you will learn how the construction of standard cinemas was implemented in the post-war years of the XX century.
