The forests in the reserve are of natural origin, belong to old-age especially valuable forests. They appeared after the descent of the last glacier about 10 thousand years ago, so the age of some forests, untouched by man, reaches several thousand years.


Basically , forests are formed by three tree species with the following distribution by area:


  • 30% - Frieze pine,
  • 46% - Siberian spruce,
  • 24% - birch.


Rowan, gray alder, goat and bicolor willows are added to them in small quantities, and in places, in small groups, aspen.


The average age of trees is 140 years - pine, 200 years - spruce, 45 years - birch. The average height of the trees is 15 meters and 20-30 cm in diameter.


The main types of forest:


  • blueberry pine,
  • lingonberry pine,
  • blueberry spruce.


Of particular importance are the rare type of forest spruce lichen.
