In the Local history Museum you can learn about the history of the city and the creation of the Northern Fleet. The museum is equipped with a lecture hall, storage facilities, an art workshop and a library. The second floor unites four exhibition halls, here is the main museum exposition on the history of the city and the fleet.
The main exposition reflects the most important stages of the formation of the city from ancient times to the present day. The constant replenishment of funds allows the museum staff to revise, change and update sections of the main exhibition.
In 2002, the hall "Flora and Fauna of the Kola Peninsula" was opened, where visitors can get acquainted with the flora and fauna of the Kola Peninsula. The Nature Department always attracts a large number of visitors, especially the children's audience.
In 2003, the exposition "The History of the Kola Red Banner Flotilla of heterogeneous forces" was prepared and decorated.
The Museum of Local Lore was established by Resolution No. 663 of 30.10.1997 of the head of the administration of the city of Polyarny, P.S. Lyubimnikov. The decision to create the museum was made on the eve of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the city.
