The name for the pie chain was given by the consonance of the name (Stolle) of the great-grandmother of the founder of the pie chain Alexander Bordyug and the name of the traditional German (Saxon) Christmas cake Stollen.

The idea of giving the institution a name consonant with the name of the grandmother was liked by the founders of the enterprise, especially since many people have the very concept of "delicious pie" in most cases supplemented by another qualitative definition — babushkin.
