Chapel of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker

On September 16, 2017, in the old Pomor village of Kolvitsa, the opening and consecration ceremony of the chapel of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker took place.

The construction of the chapel itself began in 2015. Since this year, schoolchildren and activists of the Ekodozor volunteer movement, local residents of Kolvitsa and Kandalaksha, volunteers have been arranging the memorial complex “Memory of Kolvitsa” with the chapel of St. Nicholas in its composition, one of the most revered saints of the Russian North.

In 2016, the construction became truly popular - it was carried out exclusively by forces and with donations from volunteers. This is the first church in Kolvitsa in the entire long history of the village.

Now it is open to everyone.
