On a high, slightly curved pedestal, he hovers in the air and, as it were, lands between the rows of nine-story buildings. The second such plane is in Severomorsk-3, where the famous pilot Timur Apakidze served. He was the best in the Navy: the first of the combat pilots to land a ship "drying" on the deck of the heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser "Admiral Kuznetsov" during the day, at night, as well as in difficult weather conditions of the Arctic. He was awarded the title of Hero of Russia.
On July 17, 2001, the Su-33 naval aviation fighter crashed near Pskov.
It was piloted by the Hero of Russia, Deputy Commander of Naval Aviation of the Navy, Major General Timur Apakidze. In the same year, secondary school No. 57 began to bear the name of the Hero of Russia Timur Avtandilovich Apakidze, an honored military pilot.
