The Ghost of War in the Polar Rocks: The German torpedo battery at Liinahamari
Add to the journey
They say that it is the only Russian German torpedo battery, the Nazis ' plan, she had to block the entrance to the Pechenga Bay, which was already pretty well fortified by the Nazis, for which the entrance to the Creek was called "corridor of death". The interior of the building consists of tunnels cut through the rocks and partially concreted. On the second floor there is a command and observation post Siebruniemi, a typical bunker of a special design.
Fortunately, the Germans were not able to release more than one torpedo from this torpedo battery, constantly delaying its commissioning due to the difficult situation (for them) at the front, and in October 1944, during the Petsamo-Kirkenes operation, the area was cleared of German troops by a tactical naval landing.
