And we'll cry a little.
This is the day of remembrance, this is the day we grieve
About all those who left, but who were so dear to us,
Those who are dear to us remained and remained loved.»
June 18, 1984-it turned out to be warm and sunny. The wives of the sailors, waiting for their return home, were already making plans for the summer. After all, a summer vacation is the ultimate dream of any submariner. Suddenly, a rumor appeared from somewhere: there is a fire on 131, there are dead people. The village froze in anticipation.
Having successfully completed the tasks of combat service in the Mediterranean Sea, the nuclear submarine "K-131" under the command of captain 1st rank Yevgeny Selivanov was returning to base. There were 61 days of autonomy. In the Norwegian Sea, at a depth of 150 meters, a fire broke out on board a nuclear-powered ship in the 8th compartment. The bulkhead between the seventh and eighth compartments was open for ventilation, as the oxygen content in the air exceeded the permissible norm. The fire spread to the next, seventh compartment. According to witnesses, the fire had a non-uniform effect on the surrounding objects. For example, the fire melted the metal doors of the cabinets, but next to them were untouched sheets of paper and clothing. Two compartments burned out. In the fight against the elements, thirteen brave guys were martyred.
On June 21, the K-131 was delivered to the base under tow.
The investigation of the causes of the tragedy was carried out by the commission of the Navy, headed by the Chief of the General Staff of the Navy, Admiral V. N. Chernavin.
Residents of the village and all the personnel of the garrison said goodbye to the dead sailors. From the Vidyayevo House officers to the place of burial were drawn funeral procession.
In 2000, after the death of the crew of the submarine "Kursk", based in Vidyaevo, it was decided to perpetuate the memory of the heroes of submariners. For the construction of a single memorial complex, a site was chosen next to the burial place of the sailors. Made of granite in the form of a submarine deckhouse, the monument was designed by a creative team that included sculptors Krivolapova and Minina, as well as architect Zautrennikova. The names of all the crew members of the boat "K-131"are carved on the memorial plates.
