The first monument in our country to Alexander Evgenievich Fersman, a geochemist and mineralogist, academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences, organizer of the study and development of mineral resources of the Kola Territory, initiator of the opening and first director of the Khibiny Mountain Station of the USSR Academy of Sciences (now - FRC KSC RAS).


The opening of the monument took place in 1980 in honor of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Khibiny mountain station "Tietta". The author of the monument is sculptor Elena Preobrazhenskaya, a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.

The sculpture was cut out of Karelian granite.
