Stele "City of Military Glory"

The honorary title of the Russian Federation "City of Military Glory" was awarded to Polyarny by Presidential Decree No. 555 of May 5, 2008 for his great contribution to the Great Victory over Fascism, the creation, development and multiplication of the military traditions of the Navy. This status implies the installation of a memorial stele. The memorial stele is an 11-meter obelisk made of granite from the Baltic deposit near Vyborg. It is crowned with the coat of arms of the Russian Federation.

The total weight of the stone used in the construction of the stele is 200 tons, the weight of the bronze is about 300 kg. On the pedestal on the side of the main facade on the relief cartouche is the text of the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation on the assignment of the Polar title "City of Military Glory". On the opposite side there is a bronze coat of arms of the Polar. At the corners of the site, on four granite pedestals (each weighing about three tons), there are eight bronze reliefs depicting the most important pages of the military chronicle of the Polar.
