Add to the journey
The unique natural monument – rocks-outliers "Two brothers" is located on the cape Zemlyanoy of the Sredny Peninsula.
The two thirty meter high rocks are about 600 million years old and are formed as a result of geological weathering: temperature fluctuations, freezing cycles, and chemical effects of water and precipitation.
The "Two Brothers" stand apart from the plateau on the shore of the Barents Sea. The road to them runs along the wall of the picturesque canyon on one side and the coast of the Big Volokova Bay on the other.
Among the Sami, the indigenous inhabitants of the Kola Peninsula, the "Two Brothers" rocks are considered sacred. They were deified, worshipped, performing shamanic rites.
According to one of the Sami legends, these are petrified sorcerers-noids Akka and Ukka, punished for the evil they caused.
