The Museum of History, Culture and Everyday Life of the Terek Pomors was founded in the village of Umba in 1991 and in 1992 received the status of a territorial department of the Murmansk Regional Museum of Local Lore. 


The Department of History, Culture and everyday life of the Terek Pomors GOAUK "MOKM", attracts with an abundance of authentic items of Pomor antiquity, preserves the spirit and warmth of the Pomor house. Its halls tell about the first settlers of the Kola North, the Tersk Coast, the development of the north by the Russians. The Pomeranian crafts, features of summer and winter fishing, St. John's wort fishing and hunting are highlighted. The exhibition includes installations of a fishing hut, a Pomeranian house, animals of the Kola Region. A rich collection of samovars, clothing, women's and men's needlework and crafts.




The museum's collections contain objects reflecting the history, life and culture of the peoples of the region, including: ski-kalgi, women's hats (povoyniki), household items of pomors (wooden millstones, rocker), children's toys-grandmothers, sherkunki (rattles), pani dolls, products of original folk art (woven tablecloths, lace and embroidered products, shirts-kosovorotki, braided belts; products made of birch bark and tree roots; painted chests, wood-chip birds, carved and painted spinning wheels) and more.




There are 2 halls in the department:

the main exposure and temporary.



Master classes, game and interactive programs are held by appointment.
