The Murmansk Regional Museum of Local Lore is the oldest museum in the region, founded on October 17, 1926. The museum's collection consists of over 170 thousand items, including documents, books, posters, photographs, objects of decorative, applied and fine arts, numismatics, archeology and weapons.
Now the famous building with an anchor on Lenin Avenue is under reconstruction, the museum is located at the address: Pavlova Street, 1A.
In the museum you can get acquainted with collections that tell about the nature of the Murmansk region, the history of the region since ancient times, the economy and life of indigenous peoples, the Arctic during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
Every year, the museum hosts more than a hundred temporary exhibitions, family events, and major festivals. Here you can book city tours, buy souvenirs, take part in museum classes and master classes.
The Murmansk Regional Museum of Local Lore has 2 branches: The Museum of the History of the Kola Sami (Lovozero), the Museum of Culture and Life of the Terek Pomors (Umba).
