The territory of the reserve includes the Ponoy River, with a length of 234 km from the mouth to the former
village of Chalmny-Varre.
Atlantic salmon, pink salmon, trout, grouse, whitefish, grayling, pike, roach, ide, minnow,
burbot, three - and nine-needle stickleback, perch live in the river basin. At the mouth of the river there are river flounder and
four-horned goby.
There are 67 species of plants listed in the Red Book of the Murmansk region growing on the territory of the reserve .
