Kirov Museum of Local History

The Museum of Local Lore was established as a memorial house-museum of S.M. Kirov by the decision of the Kirov City Council of December 27, 1934. The opening took place on May 1, 1935.

The permanent exhibition of the museum presents authentic exhibits telling about the discovery, the history of the study and development of the Khibiny Region, closely associated with the name of A.E. Fersman, about the creation of the apatite industry here and the construction of the city of Khibinogorsk (later Kirovsk).

The main exhibit of the museum is the house of geologists, where on January 1, 1930, a historical meeting was held under the chairmanship of S.M. Kirov, which decided the fate of the Khibiny Region. The house recreated the domestic environment of the early 30s.

In 1993, the house-museum of S.M. Kirov was reorganized into a museum of local history, and in 1995 the opening of the exhibition "Nature and Ecology of the Khibiny" took place.

The rich stock material of the museum is constantly exhibited at temporary exhibitions in the museum and other institutions of the city.

The museum holds fascinating interactive events and workshops for visitors of different age categories.
