Ecotrope "On the trail of the Polar Owl" (Kovdor)
Add to the journey
The ecotrope "On the trail of the polar owl" takes place in the vicinity of the Vars hill, near the town of Kovdor. It consists of three routes: 3, 6 and 12 kilometers.
There is a bird park near the entrance to the trail. The entire route is marked with signs.
Having crossed the ridge of the Vars hill in its low decay, the trail descends into the Niskavaara canyon, passes through centuries-old pine and spruce forests, leads travelers to the Seidu Child and the labyrinth "Leading to the sources".
On the trail there is a bridge over the Fedorishchenko River, located in a picturesque and relatively dry place, which allows you to get acquainted with the vegetation of the marshes of the north "without getting your feet wet".
Plants listed in the Red Book of the Murmansk region and the Red Book of Russia (for example, lichen brioria) grow on the ecological tourist and educational trail, so try not to harm them.
Places equipped with campfires for recreation will allow travelers to relax around the campfire without disturbing the soil cover.
