Polar Day is an unusual climatic phenomenon when the disk of the Sun is completely in the sky at night. At the same time June 21-22 it is possible to observe the peak of this phenomenon - Solstice Day. At the latitude of the city of Murmansk the duration of the Polar Day is 62 days from May 22 to July 22. The Polar Day can be called one of the climatic attractions of our region. The polar day is a period of time when the sun does not go below the horizon

The polar day in the Murmansk region lasts from 72 to 20 days in the period from May to July.

➢ The longest polar day – 72 days – is observed in the extreme northern point of the region, Cape German (Rybachy Peninsula) in the period from May 17 to July 27

➢ The shortest polar day – 20 days – is observed in the extreme southern point of the region, Cape Tetrino (White Sea) in the period from June 12 to July 2

➢ at the latitude of Murmansk, the duration of the polar day is 62 days from May 22 to July 22
