Where to go with children in Murmansk

Young Arctic explorers will certainly remember the tour of the nuclear icebreaker "Lenin" – the world's first civilian vessel with a nuclear power plant.

During the tour, you can see the cabins, galley, captain's cabin, mess, engine room and the upper part of the nuclear reactors.

Next to the sea station, at the pontoon pier, there is a museum of the history of the Murmansk Commercial Sea Port, which opened in September 2015.

It is dedicated to the history of the formation of the harbor, thanks to which Murmansk appeared and grew.

Visiting the oldest museum of the region, you will get acquainted with the history and traditions of the city and the region.

Founded in 1926, the Museum of Local Lore has collected over the years extensive collections that tell about the nature of the Murmansk region, the history of the region since ancient times, the economy and life of the Sami in the XVIII-XIX centuries, the Arctic during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

Excursions, interactive programs and even quests are organized for children.

Young researchers will be able to learn the history of the Northern Fleet from its creation to the present at the Naval Museum of the Northern Fleet.

In the halls of the museum there are more than 65 thousand unique exhibits – models of submarines, aircraft and ships of different years.

The Murmansk Regional Art Museum is located in the first stone public building of the city, which is located in the historical center of Murmansk.

The museum has permanent exhibitions "Russian Fine Art of the XVIII-XX centuries", "Sculpture" (tactile exposition), "Open Storage of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art", the Department of Folk Art and Crafts and the Cultural and Exhibition Center of the Russian Museum.

On weekends, the family club "Together to the Museum" is open – an ideal format for a visit with children.

Murmansk Regional Puppet Theater has been working for children since 1933 and is the oldest professional theater in the Arctic Circle.

If you want to visit the place of power, then go to the Cultural and tourist complex "Legends of the North", located just 2.5 km from the square "Five Corners".

Here you will see unique installations made of wood, made by the hands of talented craftsmen, a plague with a hearth, a menagerie in which mainly animals of the north live (deer, arctic foxes, foxes).

For those who prefer to bask in the warm pool in winter, there is a tropical bath in the "Lights of Murmansk" – a one-of-a-kind year-round oasis beyond the Arctic Circle.
